woah Jesus Christ, he can reinstall his network adapter by right click on computer icon choosing manage then clicking on device manager and uninstall Broadcom netXtreme gigabit ethernet, and if there is anything else under network adapter like VPN taps uninstall that too, remove the cable and put it back it will install the Broadcom again automatically, hope this works for you, don't forget to post your feedback.
I have 2 cables, both work the same.
