[Guide] A simple way to edit a skin

October 3rd, 2018, 4:31 pm

  • There are several ways to make a skin mod.
  • Using a 3D software like 3D max you could make a great skin mod according to your wish.
  • But it is quite true that only few have good PC to do rendering and you need to have knowledge in order to do such a work
  • There is another method which not so accurate but still worthy trying. It is using photoshop.

Creating a simple skin mod using Photoshop
Step 01

Image

Download the TXD workshop editor. A link to get it downloaded is provided below

https://www.gtainside.com/en/sanandreas ... /download/

Step 02
  • Open TXD workshop
  • Click 'Open IMG' in the top left corner
Image

Step 03
  • Select gta3.img from game folder.
    Path ==> Rockstar Games > GTA San Andreas > models > gta3.img
  • You can find so many .txd and .dff files
  • Open a .txd file that you wish to edit I will be using the SWMOTR5.txd which is a Hobo Skin
Image

Step 04
  • Select Export > TGA format
  • Export the .tga file to a desired location
Step 05
  • Open the .tga file using photoshop
  • Create a new psd file. I will be using 1024x1024px
Step 06
  • Select the .tga file and paste it in the newly created psd file.
  • Stretch until you get it to the full file
Now you could edit the skin as you wish. Add anything which are not illegal and enjoy editing
Image

Step 07
  • Once you finish editing take the entire document and paste it in the previous .tga file again.
  • Resize it to meet the actual size of the .tga file
NOTE : If you do not allign it properly to overlap the old tga image, your skin will get damaged in game. To avoid any distortions allign it properly
Step 08
  • Save the file as .png file
Step 09
  • Open TXD workshop again and in SWMOTR5.txd click Import > select the location of the .png file > Click OK
Step 10
  • Click save TXD
You are good to go now.

If you have anything doubtful, comment down below or FPM me. Thank you

This guide is very clear and easy to understand because of the screenshots you used and also because of its simplicity.
I've been in this server for a long time now but i didn't do any modifications to my game as I'm not that interested. But lot of players does and I think this guide is very useful for them as this shows something different than the ordinary, like downloading a skin created by Someone else from the internet and replacing it. This shows a way to edit a skin as WE want. Thank you for this.
AND I'm gonna try this btw.
Good job brother...
