[Reminder] Corruption - how to deal with it

January 10th, 2023, 3:19 pm

This rule is directed towards legal factions and legal factions only.
Illegal factions must adhere to the rules directed towards them.

The exemptions from the otherwise global ban on corruption is in effect for tier 2, 1 and 0 members only.

It is permitted for legal faction members to perform violations of the penal code and their individual rulesets in order to create nuanced and interesting roleplay situations. This includes corruption in the sense of receiving money or goods in exchange for shortened jailed sentences, lower fines, to avoid infractions and persecution and violence against criminals and those threatening their careers. Law enforcement officials may also decide to use excessive force during questioning and arrests and may plant evidence on a suspect in order to extend their jail time - planting evidence is allowed but only if there is at least one prior and legitimate reason for the arrest. Making up charges in order to jail a player for a long time without proper RP justification and IC evidence to back this up is NOT allowed.
How to deal with it:

With the previously mentioned exemption for the tiers 2,1 and 0, only tier 3 members could get banned for being corrupted or for misconducting which causes harm towards someone. If a tier 3 legal faction member gets caught while being corrupted, he'll get uninvited from the faction and banned for 168 hours(7 days.) Other legal faction members(tiers 2 and 1) are mostly being punished with IC measures, such as suspensions, demotions of their ranks. Also they could get fired if there has come to some serious abuse of power.

Several illegal faction members have been calling admins whenever they thought that some cop/soldier was corrupted while he was performing an arrest or pulling them over. It's not always admins duty to deal with legal faction members misconducts, so that's why I decided to remind everyone with this rule. Sometimes it has to be done in character, via Internal Affairs reports.

The correct way of dealing with corruption or misconducting is to visit the pages of two legal factions:
San Andreas Police Department - [INTERNAL AFFAIRS] Report police misconduct: viewtopic.php?f=29&t=148145
San Andreas Special Forces - Report a soldier: viewtopic.php?f=371&t=115212

Once you've filled the format with explanations and valid evidence(videos, screenshots), you should forward it to High command usergroup of one of these factions. They will review it within a few days and then decide what's gonna happen with the reported faction member. If your explanations and evidence are valid, the member will be punished IC. Also if the reported member is a tier 3 member, admins will be contacted so they could do their part of the job.
Feel free to FPM or PM me ingame if you need any kind of help!
