Joining factions is done in-character (IC).

If you want to join an illegal faction, you need to roleplay with the faction members and get invovled with the faction activity and actions, and if the faction has decided you are good enough to be a faction member, congratulations.

Joining legal factions is a little bit different. Currently there are 3 legal facitons : San Andreas Police Department, San Andreas Special Forces and San Andreas Government.

The 3 factions currently recruit members by applications made to their recruitment center and their recruitment officers are incharge to process your application and decide wether you are fit for the faction or not. If your application has been accepted you may want to follow the faction's rules and soon enough you will be invited and get involved with the faction, their members and their main activity.

However, you need to basically find about the faction in character and do not metagame any information, try to know about them in character and get a job with them.
