What kind of emails are you receiving from the forum, what are they about?

Mark them as Junk / Unwanted mails and you will never have a problem again...

Anyway, sorry for the stupid question, but when you went here ( ucp.php?i=174), and changed receive E-mails to "no", did you clicked on submit and it sent you to a page where it said:

At the bottom of the Mail you should see something like "Click here if you dont want to receive this kind of notyfications".
