No one not really know, I asked that question alot and 50% said yes and the other 50% said no so I suggest you to not use it cause the other pplayer can understand it in a wrong way and to think you are mixing or however...

Obviously you can. There's no reason why you shouldn't be

You can't 'mix', that means using OOC info IC, or vice versa.
You can however use smileys, shortened words because you can do that IRL in text messages or whatever.

It's the same thing overall...

You're allowed to use smiley, abbrevations and whatever when you use SMS, but don't use brackets - marking OOC in SMS.
/SMS is an IC function, if you want to message someone OOC use /pm. That's the only "restriction".
