Download HWMonitor or something similar, check your temperatures while using the computer, if it gets to 100~ laptop automatically shuts down.
If overheating doesn't exist you might want to check event viewer if there are any information about errors or something.

Try the software that Peksi suggested you. Check if your laptop is actually overheating,
if not there is probably a problem with graphic chip, faulty motherboard or HDD problems. let's hope thats not the problem cuz it would cost a lot.

and also try cleaning your cooling fan

A'right i'll try this software but i think it's overheating
If it's overheating any solutions?
Close background programs, place your laptop in a flat surface, lower the brightness of your screen, Turn off your laptop if you are not using it or put i on sleep mode, Clean your cooling fan from dust

also consider buying a laptop cooling pad/external fan if you can affort

Easiest way is to google your laptop model and look for disassembly instructions, cleaning the fans will help massively.
Cooling pad or external fans is not a long term solution.
