[Answered] [Windows 7]- Blue Screen Of Death.

Well, I have this PC.. it was running quite well for the time being until a BLue screeen of Death ( BSOD) occured. However it took me a while but i narrowed it down to the issue it was causing it.

The Radeon AMD HD 5450 display adapter. I updated my Display adapter from a Standard one and once i had it updated.. the BSOD occured.

Solutions i worked upon:
--Re-installed windows 7. ( However it doesnt matter cause the display addapter updates to the same AMD one )
--Updated all the drivers and had a BSOD. Ran a safe mode then rolled back the update of display driver and I was able to use it.

At this instant, i am using standard VGA graphics. But, i higly doubt i can run any games with it.
Anyone with any prior knowledge to this Issues, kindly able to assist would be appreciated.

Happened to me once too, I don't know, but might be a HDD failure?

Well yeah.. the video card i possess is preety old.. but was good enough to run anything smoothly. However, i really dont know the reason of the BSOD. Someone told me i should update the driver from official AMD page.. Will that do any good?.. cause everytime i updated my driver was from 3rd party software.. so i just want to make sure,,

what are your temperatures when it BSODs? download hardware monitor and check if temps are normal, if they are get a stress test program and see how they fare.

1: You always download drivers from official AMD website.
2: Open CMD
- write "wmic"
- write "diskdrive get status"
- see the outcome.

3: Test your rams using windows diagnostic tools or use memtest84

The reason could be a corrupted file.

it has nothing to do with your videocard, check your RAM, you get these errors, when your PC Memory is old, or just overheated and HDD but, the RAM gives the HHD the power to do the writing, so if i was you i'd download ccleaner fix Registry issues, then check for Memory problems. reply if you need help.

Always get the official WHQL driver from amd website.

Use DDU to do a clean uninstall, restart and install new drivers.

Did you get an error code alongside with the BSoD? My pal got multiple BSoD's with different error codes, when I went a tested it, I put in some different RAM sticks, and bam.

I had the same issue in my old PC and it damaged the internal graphics of the CPU. So i had to change my graphic card to solve this issue.
So , You do need some graphic card

Well HDD failure due to overheating?.. um not so familiar with this issue tho.. why is it cause and how can this be resolved?.. However evertime i have that BSOD..the error says 0x00000116 ( which is only caused due to display adapter driver failure )

Is any of this overheated?.. cause um not so sure tho.. And, atm I am using the PC, it is somehow working for the time being.. but it might crash anytime sooner.. So i think over-heating is the issue here.. And how can i check the temperatures during BSOD?

Well when the blue screen appears.. the error is 0x00000116. Which upon googling says the issue is patched with the Videocard. Tho um not quite sure.. this might not be the issue either. However, ill check out my rams and please check the ss's above for the over-heating issue.. I have patched ss of my Pc's temperature at this instant. Ill do the ccleaner thing soon and keep this updated.

Well, i didnt get any throwaway error code.. the error code was 0x0000016 all along till now.. So idk, yeah the ram might be the issue too.. ill do ccleaner thingy and let you know.

I highly doubt the internal grpahics is the issue. I am currently running the windows .. if that was the issue I couldnt run it at all.. and my safe mode wouldnt work either. So.. idk .. i dont think the graphics has anything to do with it..

72 Degrees at 6% usage max is hot.

Can you run a game, even if it is sa-mp , and run hwmonitor on the background and tab out after 30 mins and ss the temps?

That GPU is overheating and probably is dying already if it's idling at 72 degrees, you would need to repaste the thermal paste but it's way too much hassle for a 30 euro GPU.

I had 5450 too in the early days and it was the worst GPU you could ever get, well, it performs good but the amount of issues you get just overrides everything good by double.

Well yeah that.. The humid and atmosphere is at its worst at this instant , at my place here.. Tho, If over-heating is causing it.. idk what else i could do.. i just removed a part of the CPU case and its kinda working okay.. but still the temperature is wayy too much.. Is there any temorary solution to that.. ill surely do get a new GPU.. but for the time being, if theres any..

Since that GPU has passive cooling, it would be great if you could add some fans to the case if it's temporary. You should have one intake fan in the front to cool down the elements and one exhaust fan in the top rear to blow out the hot air.

101 degrees is way too hot.

Either get a new gpu or a new case, get the airflow up and going.

100 percent your temps causing the BSOD. Like tisler said, best thing would be to put some new thermal paste on it, youtube can teach you how. To be honest moving fans around might help but that card is so beyond hot that it probably wouldn't have a profound effect.

Honestly instead of just a new case; buy a new gpu alongside it. Passive cooling is shit.
