I've got a problem with my iPhone 4, I've been using it for like a year now but now the home-button isn't working as it is suposed to be. I have to press like 8 seconds, untill it actually makes contact. I've searched some solutions but they don't seem to work. Any of you got a solution or have experienced this? :(

Ok, you take your iPhone > Settings > General > Accessibility > AssistiveTouch > On
A buttom will appear in your screen, it helps users to manage their iDevice if they have an issue. I am for example using it because my Lock/Sleep button doesn't work. Hopefully this helped you. Oh, you might get pissed off of the way you have to do all this to go to the home screen but after some time you'll get used to it.
PS. This is available for only iOS 5 or more.
Feel free to ask me if you still have the issue :)

Hmm.. I think i'm going to the Apple store or something because I hate Assistive Touch.. I attempted to use it before for 5 days but I was just raging.

friend of my has this too, you could try reinstalling ios ( don't know if it's actually possible ). Don't try to jailbreak, if i'm right you can't complete it since you need to use the home button. my friend uses assistive touch but if you dont like that i think it's the best to bring it to the icenter

Best and safest way is going to a Apple store in-case any solution could mess up your phone.
Tip: Don't buy any Apple Products, they do normally screw up.

I own an Iphone 4 my self and also face that problem after a while. The home button problem which you have is a common problem for the iphone 4 and you do not have to restore your phone or jailbreak it as the home button is a hardware problem not the software problem. The assistive touch is what I use or the other best way is to go down to an Apple Store and get it checked out or to any mobile shop who can repair the phone for you.

You could do the same as a friend of mine lol. He took a knife, pulled the home button a way up, but destroyed his screen by actually making a huge crack in it. :)
