Hey, I've done some research but no videos help. I've also tried to tilt the PS3 about 45 degrees upwards but no effect.
Anyway, if you've stumbled over this problem, or have any experience with it or know anything please let me know.

When I insert my disc into the disc reader, the game won't appear in the "Games" of my PS3 display. After some seconds, I get the spinning sound (the sound that comes when you eject your CD) you know after you press the button to eject the CD. That sound comes, but the disc won't eject. But once I press the button it comes out.

I've tried:

- restarting my console
- reconnected the power cord
- hold the disc eject button
- tilted the PS3 45 degrees upwards (also downwards)

If it's relevant, it's a 250 GB PS3 Slim model. I've tried with many different discs, it's the disc reader that is failing. I have not opened the entire PS3, and I'm not planning to do so.

Edit: If nothing helps, I'll probably send it for repair. I need my PS3 before GTA V comes out haha

This is what the PlayStation Forum says:

1. Turn off Playstation®3.
2. Hold the power button down; the system will turn on and turn off once again.
3. Once the System has been shutdown, re-press you finger until you hear 2 consecutive beeps
4. When you hear the 2 beeps take finger off power button.
5. You will be prompted to plug in your controller via USB and then hit the PS button
6. The Recovery menu will pop up.

The current Recovery Menu supports:
• Restart System: Restarts the PLAYSTATION®3 System.
• Restore Default Settings: Reset all system settings back to default.
• Restore File System: Checks for corrupt/missing system files.
• Rebuild Database: Rebuilds the OS for the PLAYSTATION®3.
• Restore PS3 System: Fresh restore; Deletes everything and starts from Scratch.
• System Update: Update the PLAYSTATION®3 System

All saved progress will be removed from my hard drive? I want any other solutions than recovery please.
Jump on the PS3 and crush it into pieces, throw eggs at it. Maybe the best solution?

EDIT: I've also tried to run that thing on startup that looks for corrupted files etc.

Wait lol. Maybe you have a uncoded ps3, and the CD that you're inserting is a fake and not an original. How is it with others? Same? Feedback please.

It's the PS3 Slim (first Slim) version, about 2-3 years old.
I've tried with different discs.

And the same thing happened with all of your discs?

You can also try this(not sure if you can do it on slim since I have the other one , but if you can do it):
1. Open the back part of the PS where the disc reader is(remember where every part of it was)
2. Take a towel or something and clean the area
3. Close the back part of the PS

If I open the PS3, I'll break the guarantee agreement.

I'm not sure how exactly the slim works but maybe there's a way to clean it without breaking it , but I am pretty sure that the problem is that the disc reader got something in it.

I know. But I won't take any chances, if it's not the dust.
Maybe the drive is dead, no it can't be. I'll send it in for repair and see if they can conclude with my problems..
