[Guide] How to increase FPS

January 8th, 2015, 6:23 pm

I found this amazing guide and I wanted to share it with you. This helped me a lot.
TheNathanNS wrote:If I don't do any of these my FPS is about 15, shit I know. But follow the below and your FPS will increase.

1.) Close all uneeded programs programs.
By this I mean, temporarily disable Anti-virus, close your internet browsers, if you have a torrent client running, turn that off too. (ya pirate) Windows Media Player too since you really don't need that. Really. Fraps too UNLESS your gonna record summat.
For anti-viruses like Avast! you can set a time limit for how long you want it disabled.
Depending on how many programs I close, I get 5-10 FPS boost.

2.) Turn all settings to low
This is pretty damn easy to do.
All you need to do is goto options then display settings then advanced, the turn frame limiter OFF (People with very high end PC's will notice a huuuuugggggeeee difference) draw distance LOW. Widescreen OFF. Visual FX quality LOW.

On lowest settings I get 50 FPS max, medium 35, highest, 20.

3.) Avoid HD mods.
Simple as really.
Don't download ENB, GTA IV cars, HD peds, weapons etc.
I'll admit it looks nicer, but do you really want to go slower than a snail just for a better looking game?

I downloaded a ULTRA HD Police bike (2048x2048 texture) and whenever I see it, my FPS drops to 10. If I see more than 1 bike...... 5 FPS. Then when it is off screen it goes up to 35-45 again.
Avoid at all costs UNLESS you have a Nvidia graphics card.

4.) Avoid crowded places. ("party" areas on SA:MP/Highways)
I've noticed if I'm on the highway, after a few seconds (you know why) my FPS starts to lower, since you get about 10-20 cars on screen at the same time. Combine that with counltess explosions = 10-20 FPS decrease.

5.) Download FPS increasers.
WARNING: For some reason SAPT3 gets marked as a virus, it isn't I've used it, it's a false alarm.
Any way, I have 2 FPS increasers that boost my FPS by at least 10 (60 :D)
San Andreas FPS Increaser & SAPT3.
SAPT3 lets have very very low draw distance, disables SOME visual effects etc.
PM me for a link to them.

6.) .asi plugins.
AASI plugins are a addon for GTA SA, which lets you have something not already in the game, such as CLEO or a bugfix.
I'd recommend 2 MAXIMUM. I onced used 10 at once, dropped about 15 FPS then when I removed them, it ran faster. :D

7.)Gamebooster.
It's a tool which closes all programs that aren't needed (even ones you don't see).
Very handy.
