[RESOLVED][HELP] Unidentified network -LAN- Ethernet

hi,
so Yesterday i connected my laptop with my pc using a LAN cable.I've done it a several times and I use Laptops' wifi connection thru LAN cable as I share the internet connection.
but since yesterday I get a yellow triangle @ the connection icon in the taskbar and it keeps saying identifying network and after few minutes it says unidentified network;hence the yellow trangle.I get that icon in both laptop and the PC.
PC is running on win 10 and lap on win 7.
it worked fine until yesterday and i havent changed anything that i can remember of.

i flushed DNS,reseted router,netsh and all but no solution at all.when i troubleshoot using windows troubleshooter and its not working too.
when i connect the lan cable directly from the router to my PC (win 10) it works fine - internet).

I cant share anything between laptop and pc de to this too.homegroup and all also not working


does anyone know how to solve this shit.I even formatted laptop but no solution at all.cant format PC tho.
please help.

So would you like to use Internet connection on your laptop through the PC or just LAN as in PC-to-PC connection (offline)?

LAN as in PC-to PC needs some configuration. If you just want to use the PC-to-PC connection, you'll need to remember to manually set an IP address on both computers. You can do that from the adapter properties. Just set them for 10.0.0.1 and 10.0.0.2 with a netmask of 255.255.255.0. The default gateway address is not needed.

This is your fix:

Start, Programs\Accessories and right click on Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt.

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

Reboot the machine.
Had same problem. Run all netsh commands given up in cmd started up as admin reboot the PC and make bridge again. Make sure you remove bridge when using netsh commands.

Did you set the IP on both computers? One's 10.0.0.1 other one's 10.0.0.2.

You can try to change the IP to 192.168.0.1 & 192.168.0.2 aswell, I doubt it'll change anything since I've never seen a problem like this before but it might solve it, who knows.

Also try to turn on network discovery.

i think you havent understood my problem.

Internet is working fine.so is my wifi.
I need to connect my pc and laptop using a LAN cABLE.
It worked fine until few days back.all i had to do was just plug the lan cable to both pc and laptop.but now its not working.giving me the errora mentioned above.



So on second thought, can i use my adsl router to LAN my pc and laptop.i mean i dont need internet.if i plug lan cables to router,from both pc and laptop will it work?

I Had this error and i had to buy a new Network adapter and plug it into my pc and connect the LAN Cable to the card.
The adapter'll look something like this

i dont think its a problem with my adapter since i use a LAN cAbLE TO connect pc to router.so it works fine

If you connect two PCes with a LAN cable, it says it's unidentified network because there is not router. You should be able to locate the other computer in "Network" and transfer files. The problem is that you need a DHCP server for IP address, since you haven't connected a router, you don't have an active DHCP server running, you don't get IPs -> unidentified network..

No, he's talking about local area network without a router combined. That's why it's called LAN.

yeah.. As ive said before its not a DHCP ISSUE: for years ive played COD4 and other multiplayer games just by connecting pc and laptop with a LAN cable. So its working just like that.but i cant understand why now it doesmt work ffs.
I even used my router and plugged them both.but when i do that i can only share files.using router is not a long term solution

As for what you provided, your LAN seems to be configured correctly, could you share the Ethernet settings on your main laptop (the one with ethernet address 10.0.0.1) ?

hey, I plugged it in today and it was solved.idk what happened.
when i checked the both adapter settings the pc one was set as obtain a IP address automatically and the Laptop was use the following ip address and it was set to some 192.167. something.i didnt do it but it was automatically set to that
