[ARCHIVE] Network Adapter

August 30th, 2020, 10:55 pm

So I have a question for the IT fellas around here. Basically I ducked something up with my PC. I went to overclock the cpu which made me fail to boot so I restarted coms by removing the battery which made my BIOS configuration go back to default. After that I managed to boot the windows normally, however the issue appeared upon plugging my USB Wifi Adapter. It simply doesn't recognize the adapter and rather shows it as an unknown device. I have tried to uninstall and install the drivers both manually and automatically but zero success. I have tried with a different adapter from a whole different manufacturer and ended up facing a similar issue. Halppp

Maybe updating BIOS to the latest release would help, it could be a bug and fixed with bios update but since your bios went back to default it might be causing the issue.
Or, simply it can be that you have to re-install wifi drivers.

Go to device manager uninstall that driver and restart your PC. It will automatically detect the driver.

The issue is that it won't. It just sets it up as unknown device no matter what I do

Get the proper driver defintion for the USB downloaded, then enter safe mode and uninstall the driver from there. Go back to your regular mode by simply exiting the safe mode(restart your pc) then once you are up, install the driver you previously downloaded.

Note: You must have the driver downloaded before and you install the secone you come back to the regular mode, letting the windows update the driver by itself after removing it from the safe mode will only get an un-defined driver and will cause the problem all over again.

I've managed to make a different USB adapter work now. I've tried to reinstall the drivers of the TP LINK adapter but still zero success even in the safe mode. I plugged the adapter into different PC and it loads up normally...

This may be archived since I acquired a new adapter. Seems like the old one got fried up.
