I could also add a tip to my answer. It usually helps if you don't follow stereotypes and add some originality into your character, but it isn't always necessary. This usually gets people's attention easier and quicker, though, and will make the process a lot easier. Most of the time, their standards aren't so high and they'll still accept you - if you're willing to learn, that is.

Well basic tips. Search for advertisements. Almost all factions have a business that they use to recruit. You can try by contacting advertisements. Dont rulebreak ,obey rules. Hang around where are they at. Keep it in RP way. Dont pm people and such. Then they will think about you rulebreaker ,mixer etc. Make a nice view infront of them. Do your best and always RP. If you have friends in factions try to contact by them.Then you will find a nice place for yourself

As the both above me said, The basic stuff that you need to follow is not breaking any rules while attempting to join a faction and always doing it IC, because it will never work OOC (even if it will, it'll count as a rule break).
