IGNORE/NOT IGNORE guns in holster (new update)

April 29th, 2013, 3:38 pm

Well, yesterday I was arrested as a result of a stupid situation led by a stupid cop (without wanting to mention names....Sean Oak). Seems that this officer saw I had a sawn off in my holster (due to the new update) and decided to arrest me for that.

I saw some arguing about this new update and I saw PD members saying they would ignore the "holster" guns since it would be ONE MORE reason for players to provoke PD and encourage DM. Given this and the fact I was never arrested or approached by any PD member for having a gun in my holster, I assumed PD was ignoring it.

I asked Kyle if PD was ignoring or not, which he answered that they are mostly ignoring it, however they have the right of not doing that. So what Sean did was basically legit.

Well I don't mind playing with PD being able to see your "holster guns" and take their IC actions based on that, I would set binds to store and take guns from car and would get used to the binds....

However... the server script is not prepared for this kind of RP. I say this mainly for two reasons:

1st - If I store my guns in the car, to avoid being seen by the officers with guns on me, and to follow the IG law... everyone that passes by my car, being inside of it or outside, they can /takegun and take all my guns....Is it realistic if I have guns inside my car and the car locked, anyone can take the guns while standing outside????

2nd - the sniper... How can I store my sniper if the script doesn't allow me??

So basically, The server script is clearly NOT prepared to this RP of the guns on the holster. I only see two possible solutions:

1. LEOs ignore the guns in the holsters in ALL situations....

2. woot adapts the script and makes two changes:
  • 1 - you can only /takegun if you are inside the car
2 - Snipers can be stored in cars, however the command /takegun (sniper slot) would be restricted to T1+... This way ppl wont be able to abuse it passing snipers to T2's.
I hope Sean Oak doesnt take this personally, I understand he was too busy supporting other fake/copy communities and, therefore, missed some new updates in IM and how PD acts with that updates.

EDIT:
Paco_Pakito wrote:Also other problem I forgot to add in the main post:

At this moment, If I put an m4 in the car and my partner puts his m4 too, the server doesn't split them and allow to take them separately. Instead, the server merges all the guns of the same time (slot) and therefore only 1 person car take the m4... That's also a big problem that should be fixed.

I usually ignore the small weapons [At waistline] since there are tons of other ways to keep them concealed, I take actions if I notice any large gun on his back Sniper/M4A1 etc.

Well the question still stands sly.. how can I store a sniper in a car (as the law obliges me to) ???

How can I store an m4a1 in car if anyone can pass by the car and /takegun 5...

How the server is scripted now, its difficult to have LEO's not ignoring guns

I know, I had similar question in mind which I was going to put up into suggestion section when it opens.
Something like it's only possible to /storegun, /takegun, /friskcar -- when car is unlocked.
As well that sniper slot thing, if woot can override it - I'd love to see it.

Well how it SHOULD be....however I don't know if its too much scriping work...is like this:

You can /takegun /storegun /friskcar with no problem if you are inside the car.

If you are outside the car you can only use that commands if trunk is opened.

You can only /car tog boot/bonnet if the car is unlocked....

Also other problem I forgot to add in the main post:

At this moment, If I put an m4 in the car and my partner puts his m4 too, the server doesn't split them and allow to take them separately. Instead, the server merges all the guns of the same time (slot) and therefore only 1 person car take the m4... That's also a big problem that should be fixed.

I've suggested a solution in the admin section, as I see it as a problem as well.
I've got nothing to add really - I ignore the guns unless it's large firearms such as the AK, M4, Shotgun, MP5, Rifle etc.
Those are obviously not possible to hide on your character unless you have a bag or something. And if you have one, I suggest you just /do it when a cop approaches you about it. Make sure you're carrying a briefcase or parachute (as a bag) though. Else it would be powergaming IMO.

a) You had a Sawn off shotgun, that's a shorter shotgun, it's still a pretty big weapon.

b) Will you freaking stop that?

a) I didn't speak about big or small weapons .. I just asked that how can PD ask me to store my guns in the car as the script is not adapted to do so?

b) Oh, sorry.

I usually ignore them (small or big ) doesn't matter to me,as long as he/she doesn't hold them,i mean if he had sniper but he didn't hold it in his hands, doesn't matter to me,if we did arrest every one has arm on his back we will be arresting the whole community,(that my opinion).
i even tried to arrest couple of mans with guns on there back, but when i frisk them i didn't find anything (bug or smth),anyway i don't really care about guns on the back,i only care if they holding them in there hands.

Just to make this clear, he was standing in front of PD, after PD/SASF was attacked by Stracci.... twice at PD.

Just to be clear...I was standing not moving for long minutes, I was in youtube choosing some musics.

About the "Stracci".. you were not attacked by "stracci" you were attacked by members of it.... I was not involved since I prefer to step back in that trolling sessions some stracci members do. However, I see you clearly MGed the fact that you know I'm stracci to arrest me, good.

To finish, I'm not discussing your stupid arrest, I'm discussing the problem that PD doesn't ignore guns on our back, however the server script doesnt offer us the proper conditions to store the guns in the cars. So... You stop with that.

And how would I do that if you were name'd off?

I noticed you were stracci when you started complaining after we went to you IC and cuffed you.

Skin obvsly.. stracci restricted and only me uses it. Anyway cut that shit.. This thread is not about that, it's to find a solution for this problem... Either PD starts ignoring the guns, or the script gets adapted, as it is now simply doesn't work.

PD can't force me to store my guns in the car, if any1 that passes by the car can steal them, and even some of the guns can't be stored.... That is what is being discussed here.

If you do not believe that this server can handle something so basic after 7 years, then you have insultingly little faith in it. None the less, faith or not, it IS a role play server and if you're not prepared or ready I suggest you find something else.

?? did you read the thread??

Assuming you did:

You consider realistic that someone outside of a car can take guns from inside even if its locked?

You consider realistic that you simply can't store snipers, although the law obliges to?

You consider realistic that multiple persons can't store guns in the same car?

Did you, by chance, replied to the wrong thread?

lol.

Anyways, what's the point of storing guns (For T1/T0) if your going to lose certain weapons everytime?
Maybe you can store weapons in separate locations such as the Trunk/Glove Compartment to avoid stacking Ammo. Only thing i see is woot fixing snipers and making more slots for different people in the vehicle. When a T2 or civilians trys to take out a sniper it simply says, "You must be T1/T0 to remove this weapon" I don't actually know if that's possible or what it takes to implement that, but it would be the only solution otherwise, PD would simply have to ignore holstered weapons.

Not losing them to the LEOs / rival Mafias would be a good start.

oak go back in the shadows..........

Btw, K3llroy is it possible to script a bag to be bought from 24/7 and inside that bag a weapons could be stored...
It'll cost around 20k and you'll lose it every time at every re-log. It's simply another way to drain money from the server.
